Rechargeable violet laser pointer

The V1 Pro is for people who want something different from the usual red or green. Its 405 nm violet dot – often called a blue or purple laser – has a deep, unusual colour that looks best in a dim room or outside after dark. Underneath it is a full Pro laser: 18650 rechargeable battery with charger, two safety keys and an aluminium body.

Output is class 2, up to 1 mW, the class intended for sale to the public in the UK, and every unit is measured before it is shipped.

Be realistic about range

We are a practical shop, so here it is plainly: the human eye is not very sensitive to violet light. The V1 Pro’s dot is visible to approx. 200 m in the dark but only approx. 10 m in daylight. It is a lovely laser for evenings, short-range pointing and anyone who likes the colour – it is not the laser for gulls on a roof or stars over a field. For those jobs, see the G3 Pro green laser.

Good uses

  • Pointing in dim rooms, workshops and at evening talks.
  • Evening use outdoors at short distance.
  • As the third colour next to a red and a green laser – see the G1 + R1 + V1 Pro set.

Battery and charging

The V1 Pro uses one 18650 Li-ion battery, charged outside the laser in the supplied PowerFox charger. With normal use a charge lasts at least about a month. Extra batteries are in our batteries and charger section.

Safety

Violet light looks dim, but that does not make it safe to look into. Never aim the V1 Pro at eyes (human or animal), vehicles, aircraft or reflective surfaces. Use the safety keys, keep the laser away from children and remember it is not a toy – adults (18+) only. Full guidance: laser pointer safety.

Frequently asked questions

Is a violet laser the same as a blue laser?
People often call 405 nm lasers “blue” or “purple”. The V1 Pro’s colour is violet: deeper than blue, at the edge of what the eye can see.
Can I use the V1 Pro outdoors?
In the dark, yes – indicatively up to approx. 200 m. In daylight the violet dot is only visible to approx. 10 m, so for outdoor work and birds choose green.
Why does violet look weaker than green?
The eye is far less sensitive to 405 nm violet light than to 532 nm green, even at the same class 2 output.
