Compact rechargeable green laser pointer

Not everyone wants a 15 cm laser in their pocket. The G2 Pro packs the green 532 nm dot of our Pro range into a 12 x 2 x 2 cm aluminium body and runs on a rechargeable 16340 cell. It is the laser for people who are outside a lot and want it on them, not in a drawer: dog walkers checking a field at dusk, anglers, sailors, gamekeepers and campers.

Power stays honest: class 2, up to 1 mW – the class intended for sale to the public in the UK. Every unit is measured before it leaves us.

What the G2 Pro is good at

• Quick bird deterrence: pigeons on the balcony rail, gulls on the wheelhouse, starlings in the hedge at dusk – take it out of your pocket and move them on. Method: laser pointer for scaring birds.
• Pointing at distance: show someone a fence post, a buoy or a branch without walking over. See long-range laser pointers.
• Casual stargazing: light enough to bring on every walk on a clear night.

Battery

The 16340 cell is shorter than an 18650, which is what makes the G2 Pro so small. The trade-off is that you charge it a little more often, although a charge still lasts at least about a month with normal use. Keep a charged spare in your bag – the PowerFox 16340 2-pack fits – and a second PowerFox charger in the car or on the boat. The battery comes out of the laser to charge.

Use it safely

The G2 Pro has no safety key, so be strict about storage: switched off, away from children, never left loose in a car. Never aim it at eyes (human or animal), vehicles, aircraft, boats or reflective surfaces. When moving birds on, the dot goes on the surface next to them, not on the birds.
