Rechargeable Green Laser Pens for Birds & Stars

Rechargeable green laser pointers for nightly use

This is the shortlist we give to people who use a laser outdoors most evenings. The three rechargeable green laser pointers in our Pro series all project a 532 nm green dot, the colour the eye picks up best, and all three come with a Li-ion battery and charger, so there are no AAA packs to keep buying.

The G3 Pro is the one most customers choose. The G1 Pro is the same laser with a removable pattern lens and 1 cm more length (16 cm instead of 15 cm) – those are the only differences. The G2 Pro is the compact one for the pocket. All are class 2, up to 1 mW – the class intended for sale to the public in the UK – with an indicative visible dot of approx. 300 m at dusk and approx. 1 km in the dark.

Rechargeable makes the most sense for people who reach for their laser several times a week: one charge covers plenty of short bird-scaring rounds or a long night under the stars. The Pro set with green, red and violet is also listed here, for anyone who wants every colour.

G3 Pro, G1 Pro or G2 Pro?

Range you can expect

The three models share the same indicative range: 30 m+ indoors, approx. 100 m in daylight on a shaded surface, approx. 300 m at dusk and approx. 1 km in the dark. Light, mist, rain and the surface the dot lands on all make a difference. In very dark, humid air the beam itself becomes faintly visible – handy for pointing at stars when people stand close behind you.

Practical tips

• For birds, work at dusk and dawn and sweep the dot over the roof or field near them – never at the birds. Full method: laser pointer for scaring birds.
• For stargazing, check the sky for aircraft first. Tips in stargazing with a laser pointer.
• Keep a spare 18650 or 16340 cell charged.

Not sure you need rechargeable? The AAA-powered X1 green laser pen is in our green laser pointer range. Always follow the safety rules.
